Born of Fire - Slovak glass art exhibition Beijing

Born of Fire - Slovak glass art exhibition Beijing
Glass is shaped by flame, time, and destiny — born in unrepeatable moments of sublime beauty. On April 8, 2026, the exhibition Born of Fire opened at the Winland International Finance Center on Beijing's Financial Street. This exhibition is a collaborative effort between the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in China, Achilleas Glass Art & Design, Jinshang Group, Winland Group, and Carte Blanche.
The opening was accompanied by an intimate chamber music performance. Violinist Tang Yun, soloist of the US-based Asian Philharmonic Orchestra, joined composer and independent musician Lin Ziqing to perform on a distinguished Amati violin from Cremona, Italy, providing a lyrical overture to the spring evening.
His Excellency Milan Lajčiak, Ambassador of Slovakia to China; artists Achilleas Sdoukos and Ingrid Zamecnikova; and Mr. Adam Yu, Chairman of Winland Group, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks.
Slovakia holds a prominent position in the global realm of glass art. This exhibition presents a unique dialogue between two generations of artists — mother and son — each offering a singular interpretation of glass and painting. Through glass purified by flame, Achilleas captures the form of time in light and shadow, while Ingrid creates poetic narrative worlds through her painting. Their two mediums meet and resonate, creating new meaning and offering viewers a sense of joy, tranquility, and inner illumination, unfolding an artistic dialogue that transcends generations and borders.
